Portable Power

Portable power can take many forms – Foundation Power has relationships with manufacturers of complete drop-in systems for vehicles to rolling case and trailer-mounted systems for remote operations, military and government fleet and emergency services as well as on-location motion picture and television operations.

Man Camps using PV:

Remote sites need affordable, always-on energy to operate in places where the grid is unavailable or insufficient for the site’s needs. To accomplish those goals, we have designed a solution that combines solar PV, a gas generator, and on-site battery storage controlled by our DirectCore™ Platform.

Most of the site’s energy will come from ground-mounted solar PV. This energy will directly support the load during daylight hours, and the excess will be stored in the battery system for nighttime operation. However, the seasonal nature of solar energy and cost considerations make a 100% solar-only energy system less than economical and does not provide 24/7 power generation.

We anticipate that nearly 80% of all energy will come from solar, with most of the shortfall occurring in the Winter months. A gas-powered generator is used when a shortfall is expected to occur; our control system activates the generator, runs at peak efficiency to fully charge the battery, then shuts off. The genset only runs during hours that won’t disrupt mealtimes or evening and sleeping hours.

Man Camps using wind turbines:

Another system in process is to deliver a military-compliant stand-alone 20ft ISO container with 8 kW of wind power. The installation is comprised of 4 x 2kW vertical axis wind turbines, battery storage, a DirectCore™ Management System capable of managing multiple power sources including solar, diesel genset or other sources. The relocatable installations make provisions for but do not require securing to the ground. Installation by a team of three would take eight hours from off-loading to fully operational. Most assembly of rotors, frames, and masts is at ground level. The turbines are safe and silent, working 24/7.

Our Services

Each business, industrial site, government agency, and residential community is unique, with its own distinct challenges and needs. We work closely from initial project concept through the full operational life of the project to help our customers optimize their energy upgrades.

Assessment & Consulting

We start every customer engagement by developing a clear set of objectives and an understanding of site operations, system connections, and physical layout. We use this detailed understanding to design solutions that ensure always-on, optimized operations

Installation

We integrate each piece of your critical infrastructure into a resilient, capable system serving your critical energy needs. We use a comprehensive approach that incorporates third party subsystems into our open-architecture platform

Manufacturing & Supply

When we partner with you to develop your system upgrade, we inform you of potential optimizations within your own operations before installation, and deliver full O&M services and support over the entire life of your Always-On Critical Operations Platform.
