Once a legacy battery system has been incorporated into the Foundation Power open platform, it is used to deliver maximum performance while the system remains accessible for the integration of new, additional technologies and energy applications as they come available.

Incorporating legacy battery systems into an open platform provides our customers with a number of benefits including increased flexibility, reduced costs, improved performance and future-proofing.

Foundation Power provides an energy storage system (DirectCore™ Technology) that is more efficient than the two current methods of local energy storage and release (AC coupling and DC to DC coupling).  This proprietary method of is a more effective and efficient version of DC coupling that includes the management and optimization of modules and streamlines the flow of usable energy to create efficiencies that have not yet been reached until now.

Foundation Power uses software-defined battery control to control the battery system, which allows the platform to adapt to the specific characteristics of the legacy battery system.  This approach provides for scalable systems – meaning it can control a large number of battery systems, whether they are part of the initial installation, or are added at a later date to increase capacity.
